The Family Behind Every Guide
Real parents. Real trips. Real advice. We're not a publishing house or a content mill. We're a family that travels together and writes about what actually works.
Our Story
It Started With a Delayed Flight and a Screaming Toddler
I still remember that night in Lisbon airport. Our flight was delayed by six hours. Our daughter had just turned two, and she was done. Completely done. The snacks were gone, the iPad had died an hour ago, and every single person in that terminal was looking at us. My wife and I sat on the floor next to gate 14, taking turns walking laps around a closed duty free shop, and I remember thinking: "Somebody should have warned us about this."
That was the moment OurTravelCircle was born. Not as a website, not as a brand, just as a frustrated note I typed on my phone at 1 AM: "Things I wish I knew before flying with a toddler." I sent it to a friend who was about to take her first trip with her baby, and she called me the next day to say she'd shared it with her entire mom's group.
Six years later, we've visited 28 countries across four continents with our kids. We've slept in bamboo huts in Bali and in overpriced hotels in Zurich that weren't even close to worth it. We've navigated train systems in Tokyo with a stroller and gotten lost in the medina of Marrakech with a five year old on my shoulders. Every single one of those experiences turned into a guide on this site, because I know someone out there is sitting at gate 14 right now, wondering if this whole "traveling with kids" thing is even possible.
It is. And it's the best thing we've ever done as a family.
Our team has grown since those early days. Jessica and Steven bring their own unique travel styles and family situations to the table, and that's exactly the point. Not every family travels the same way. Not every kid is the same age. Not every budget looks identical. We wanted OurTravelCircle to feel like advice from friends who've actually been there, not from a magazine that Photoshopped out the tantrum.

The People Behind the Guides
Every article on this site comes from personal experience, never from a desk

I never planned to become a travel writer. I was a software developer who happened to love road trips. When we had our first daughter, everyone told us traveling was "over." That honestly made me angry, so I booked a flight to Barcelona just to prove them wrong. We survived. The baby slept through most of it. And I started writing about how we did it because my friends kept asking. Hundreds of articles later, every single word on this site comes from a trip I actually took, a mistake I actually made, or a hotel room I actually slept in. I don't review places I haven't been. I don't recommend restaurants I haven't eaten at. That's a promise I made to myself on day one, and it's the only reason people keep coming back.

Mom of three under ten. Specializes in the art of keeping everyone fed, entertained, and not crying on 12 hour flights. She once packed for a family of five using only carry ons for a two week trip to Thailand. Her packing guides have become some of the most read content on the site, probably because she's had enough "forgot the charger" moments for all of us.

The budget guy. Steven has this borderline obsession with finding flights under $400 and hotels that don't look like they cost what they cost. He traveled solo through Southeast Asia for three years before settling down, and now he channels that same energy into finding the best deal for families. If there's a cheaper way to do it, Steven has already found it.
